12 months to design a future-fit organisation

We’re at a turning point.

The way we built work for the last 50 years doesn’t work anymore.

We’re living a collective dissonance.

We haven’t decided yet “this is what it should look like now” after all the workforce crises we’ve been through - pandemic confinement, remote vs hybrid wars, silent quitting, generational gaps, layoffs, burnout, to hustle or not to hustle, shrinking job boards, will AI take my job, shattered career paths for millenials, let’s adopt AI for the sake of it and so on.

The world and the forces that shaped how we designed companies are changing today in a matter of days.

But there’s hope. And it’s so simple, that it sounds trivial, so simple that cannot possibly be the solution.

You don’t need to reinvent everything. Make explicit what’s already there, fix what’s broken, and design what’s missing. One piece at a time.

Redesign, on purpose, the invisible people operating systems that you’ve been running on default.

The default assumption in most organizations is that people problems are people problems. If someone isn't performing, it's a performance issue. If teams aren't collaborating, it's a communication issue. If engagement is low, it's a motivation issue.

But that's backwards.

It’s a system issue.

The system exists but it shows up only at performative level: through dusty mission statements on websites that don’t guide decisions, values on walls that don’t shape behaviour, performance cycles that diagnose but don’t drive, culture talk that serves the speaker.

The gap is not more concepts “that don’t even work”, it’s purpose and integration. It's understanding how mission connects to hiring, how performance connects to growth, how values drive every day behaviours and outcomes. It's seeing the whole system and knowing how to build it, piece by piece, so it actually works.

This is the map.

The year-long series will show you how future-fit organisations thrive, regardless of the future.

How the people system becomes an unfair advantage and a scaling lever. How to design it explicitly.

This year we’re building it together. One month, one module.

Each module is a core piece of how future-fit organizations operate. De-constructed, explicit, ready to use.

We’ll look at how to define the Mission that solves any decision dilemma and how to turn it into a wise co-worker for your team. We’ll make it so sharp that even your customers will feel it even if they can’t name it. Since we’re here, what’s the deal with that poetic Vision?

We’ll demystify Culture and Values. Values that are just one ingredient of Culture, not the whole thing. We'll also look at when values go bad and why. We’ll turn nice, toxic positivity infused cultures into performance infrastructures. I’ll leave you something to reflect on: when do values become bad?

Performance. I know it has become almost an “f” word, but we’ll get sense back into it. How to drive it when the old methods don’t work anymore. How to make it about outcomes and growth, not effort. Cutting through the noise is so needed. I can’t wait.

We’ve tried all the recruitment strategies and nothing works anymore. We haven’t actually tried them all, have we? What’s the actual strategy to make sure we bring the right people in, not just people in? Now, that’s a question.

I would go on, but trying to keep it sharp.

We’ll go through how to build companies as platforms for experimenting and learning, that don't break when the plan changes, the market shifts, or the playbook stops working. Where agility is a muscle you build deliberately, so your team doesn't just survive disruption, they leverage it and outpace everyone else because of it.

Each month, we explore that module from four angles:

  • Why it works — the logic, the function, the reason it exists

  • Where it breaks — the myths, the misuse, the ways it gets diluted or weaponized

  • How to build it — the practical thing, the tools, the implementation

  • Make it worth it — how to land it with real people, lead it well, and ensure it delivers

And that's what we're building this year. Each month, one part of the system. By December, you'll have the full operating system, not just the concepts, but how to design them, implement them, and make them work with real people in real organizations.

If you're building or leading a future-fit organization, or want to learn how to contribute and grow in one, this is for you.

It’ll be like we get the chance to rebuild the company, from day one. If you want to jump in and share your journey with this, welcome!

We'll start with North Star. We’ll turn the useless, dusty Mission and Vision into business assets, into alignment mechanisms for every decision, every hire, every priority. Also, how far is too far? And how do we reverse-engineer the future?

We’ll look at Why it Works, and we’ll ask the three questions that reveal whether yours is functional or just performative.
